It’s the Spring Racing Carnival!

October 28th, 2010 | Posted in Blog

Here are FiFi’s hot tips for winning Fashions on the Fields:

* Your dress should always be bigger than a jockey: short, skimpy, mini dresses will attract a protest.

* Don’t wear heels so high you need a mounting yard to climb into them.

* Don’t burst the barriers with a false start by falling off your platform gladiators.

* Wedges are perfect for a sprint.

* Do not go for crazy accessories: whips are only for jockeys to carry.

* Your handbag should not be bigger than your skirt.

* Do not drink too much: the only thing sinking into grass should be your heels.

* If you wear thigh high splits, midriffs, low cut tops or shorts you will definitely be scratched.

* Make sure you are the correct weight so your dress fits perfectly (saddle bags exempt).

* Think chic, clean and polished:  if you look like an Also Ran you will get eliminated.

* A big, dramatic, over the top dress calls for a hat as small as your handbag.

* The reverse is also true: simple understated dress = big, dramatic over the top hat.

* Fake tan is not an accessory: orange is only chic in shoes and bags.

* The wind is your enemy so make sure to wear your racing silks and don’t flash your Britney.

* If it’s a photo finish then make sure you dip your shoulder towards the camera, chin down and smile.

* Don’t bet on a horse because it has a pretty name.

* Wear your most gorgeous Review dress and you will be a favourite to Win! Win! Win!

Pretty

This season it’s all about pretty!

This season it’s time to say goodbye to hard-edged black and tough chic. Say au revoir to studs, zips and anything that wants to pick a fight.  Now you can be pretty, feminine and embrace all things girly. You will welcome spring with open arms, pretty nails, and armfuls of pearls. You will set your hair in gentle waves and paint your lips with a touch of soft pink gloss. You will slip into delightful, dainty kitten heels. You will slide into the most adorable pretty pink Review dress. And as you admire yourself in the mirror you might even do a little twirl.  Why? Because you can. You will elegantly dab yourself with Chanel No. 5. And as a smile appears on your sweet face you will gently pull on your cat’s eyes sunglasses, tuck your lovely lady like bag in the crook of your arm and skip out the door. You will stroll to high tea. As you sip Earl Grey and nibble cucumber sandwiches you will ignore your phone. You will take delicate bite size pieces of one single cute and creamy cup cake. You will charm everyone with your witty, gracious conversation.

You will take your time.

And on the way home you will hum yourself a little tune…

“I feel pretty,
Oh, so pretty,
I feel pretty and witty and bright!
And I pity
Any girl who isn’t wearing Review tonight.”

“I feel charming,
Oh, so charming
It’s alarming how charming I feel!
And so pretty
That I hardly can believe I’m real.”

”See the pretty girl in that mirror there:
Who can that attractive girl be?
Such a pretty face,
Such a pretty Review dress,
Such a pretty smile,
Such a pretty me!”

Yours prettily,

Aussie Models

October 8th, 2010 | Posted in Blog

Aussie models are taking the world by storm! Here are the top 5 girls who are hitting the big time in the world of fashion right now.

Abbey Lee Kershaw
Abbey Lee is one of the hottest models around and has “risen the ranks to become one of the most coveted faces in fashion” according to Model.com.  She’s appeared in the latest Chanel campaign, photographed by Karl himself, as well as walking in every major runway show this season from Balmain to Chanel. She has worked with all the best photographers including Mario Testino, Steven Meisel, and Peter Lindbergh and even starred in the very sexy Alexander Wang fall 2010 video. She has just dyed her hair outrageously blonde: one of the best ways to prolong the model ride at the top. Apparently she has 8 tattoos.

Miranda Kerr
She’s married to Orlando Bloom, and at 4 months pregnant Miranda Kerr looked fabulous in the latest Balenciaga show in Paris. Is there anything she can’t do? As well as being a Victoria’s Secret Angel Miranda has appeared in the latest Prada and Jil Sander ad campaigns. Most importantly she is on the cover of Italian Vogue shot by Steven Meisel. This is fashion nirvana. She has seemingly crossed the barrier from commercial model to edgy editorial model without so much of a blink of a false eyelash. All because she won a Dolly model competition.

Julia Nobis
Julia Nobis is a pretty new to modeling yet she has gone straight to the top hitting the big time in the pages of Vogue UK. She was booked exclusively by Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein’s A/W2010/2011 show and walked in major shows such as Burberry and Prada. Her latest work includes the Prada Fantasy Lookbook and the Burberry Black campaign. A girl going places.

Catherine McNeil
Catherine McNeil skyrocketed to supermodel fame in 2007, and since then has appeared in just about all the most important fashion magazines. Her latest ad campaign is for Givenchy Fall 2010. She has been on the cover of French Vogue, Australian Vogue, V, and Numero. According to her,  “Catherine likes to work on cars during her free time and is best known for her eyes and lips”. She is also known for her on off relationship with Ruby Rose.

Bambi Northwood-Blyth
With fabulous eyebrows and a strong dark look Bambi is a new arrival on the fashion scene. She is a little height challenged for a model (at 5’7” she is a shrimp) but that hasn’t stopped her making it to the big time in a short time. One of her first major campaigns? For Review of course! She walked in four shows in the latest New York shows but then hot footed to Paris to walk in Balenciaga. She is currently dating Dan Single from Ksubi and is a bit of style maven turning up on numerous fashion blogs such as Vogue. Sure to follow in the footsteps of Abbey Lee in the supermodel status and the one to watch…
