Hot Cross Buns With Nutella And Roasted Strawberries

April 21st, 2011 | Posted in Blog

It’s Easter which means it’s time for a delicious recipe for (leftover) hot cross buns!

You need for 4 hungry fashionistas:
1 punnet of strawberries, hulled, halved
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 hot cross buns, sliced crossways into thirds
1/4 cup of naughty Nutella
1/2 cup Vanilla yoghurt or cream

• Slip into Review’s Stella Jumper and cropped Samba Pants.
• Climb out of Chloe platforms and pull on Prada cashmere socks.
• Tie up your hair.
• Pour a glass of Champagne.
• Breathe in and relax: it’s time to cook and eat.
• Preheat oven to 230°C.
• Line a small roasting tray with baking paper. You want the baking paper because when you roast the strawberries they will start oozing juice.
• Now find a child and bribe them to hull and halve the strawberries. They would have overdosed on chocolate eggs so they will be hyperactive.
• Toss the strawberries into the pan on the baking paper.
• Sprinkle with sugar and a tiny touch of cinnamon.
• Toss to coat. You could use your fingers. The manicure is probably wrecked from tearing at chocolate eggs.
• Roast for about 10 minutes until strawberries get soft and mushy and fall over and collapse from all the sugar – a bit like the chocolate overdosed children.
• You want a bit of syrup to ooze out on to the baking paper that’s when you know the strawberries are ready.
• Now toast your buns.
• Then spread each slice with Nutella. Yes, lashings of naughty Nutella.
• This is the fun bit: Toss 2 bun slices on each serving plate.
• Spoon the soggy drunk strawberries on top of the Nutella.
• Drizzle over the syrup.
• Top with a dollop of yoghurt or cream.
• Heaven.
• Happy Easter!

Wedding Belles!

April 14th, 2011 | Posted in Blog

It’s all anyone can talk about.

The suspense is killing me.

But in 15 days all will be revealed.

The question on everyone’s lips? What will Kate, sorry, Catherine Middleton be wearing on her wedding day? Fashion magazines have gone crazy devoting pages to the Royal Wedding and anything Bridal. American Vogue has a pretty fashion story centered around what to wear to a wedding, while UK Harper’s Bazaar has a glowing Kate Moss on the cover, another bride to be, draped in wedding white. May British Vogue is offering a “delicious confection of all things matrimonial” and has, for the first time ever, 3 different cover girls in wedding dresses as a tribute to the Royal Wedding. The “wedding belles” are Freja Beha Erichsen in Oscar de la Renta, Lara Stone in Bruce Oldfield and Natalia Vodianova in Vivienne Westwood. But what?! No Alexander McQueen? It’s proof Sarah Burton is making THE dress!

The bets are on that Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen is the designer most likely to be dressing Kate on her big day. The fact that Sara Buys – wife of Prince William’s stepbrother, and who writes for Harpers Bazaar – wore McQueen for her own wedding is a huge influencing factor. The fashion house has worked on countless society wedding dresses and it’s more than up for the expert job of making an incredibly intricate couture dress. Plus the last McQueen collection was called The Ice Queen and her court with white dress after amazing white dress wowing the fashion crowd. Sarah Burton has denied she is making the dress but what else can she say? Other names that are being bandied about are veteran couturier Jasper Conran, Bruce Oldfield, Catherine Walker and Issa. Alice Temperley had tongues wagging when Kate’s sister and mother were spotted outside her London boutique.

Why you may ask is all this secrecy? “The aim is to protect Prince William from knowing anything about the dress — something all brides do on their wedding day,” said Prince Charles’ Press Secretary.

Whatever she wears, let’s hope Catherine’s dress is much chicer than that awful meringue of a mess that Princess Diana wore. Shocking then and shocking now. Bless.

Everyone loves a love story.

The Hottest Fashion Videos of the Season

April 8th, 2011 | Posted in Blog

If there is something I love to do every day it’s trawling through the internet checking out all the fabulous fashion sites. This week it seems everybody is raving about the latest and hottest fashion videos. What’s not to love about a fashion video? Glamour, beautiful clothes, divine shoes and bags, and gorgeous models!

This week I present to you the top 5 fashion videos that have everyone talking…

1.Tom Ford Spring runway video
Tom Ford launched this faaabulous backstage video to coincide with the arrival of his clothes in store. Remember, this was the show where Tom Ford audaciously prevented anybody from photographing, blogging or tweeting. Talk about creating mystery and intimacy. Watch “models” like Julianne Moore, Beyoncé, Lauren Hutton, Daphne Guinness and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld all prancing and hamming it up and down the runway. Love!

2. Seven Henrietta Street, a film by Kinga Burza for Kate Spade New York
“This is the story of a charming girl” and stars English actress Anna Brewster, who floats about to a soundtrack by MySpace phenomenon SoKo. “Unconventional, curious and imaginative, she laughs out loud, sings off key and believes in taking chances,” says the official YouTube channel. Lovely!

3. Net-a-Porter Bag Guide
How cute is this handbag guide from Net-a-Porter? Very! Watch as a pretty blonde model plays handbags like musical instruments. Using the sounds and noises of zips and clasps on all the hottest handbags of the season the soundtrack builds up to whip you into a shopping frenzy. What a way to buy designer handbags. Yes, please!

4. Prada: Real Fantasies by James Lima
Prada does it again with this amazing video with incredible graphics: Cute little cartoons, cutouts, and strange animals all come together in a kind of kooky scrap book superimposed over models dancing away wearing the latest spring Prada collections: I die!

5. The Girls of Milan and Paris Fashion Week by Justin Wu
Adorable with a capital A! Watch models like Natasha Poly, Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn and Liu Wen all sing, dance (and mime) their way though the classic old song, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You. It will make you smile out loud… Divine!
