Singing Is The New Black

May 27th, 2011 | Posted in Blog

You’ve got to love Gwyneth Paltrow. Rich and beautiful she already has an Oscar, runs a successful lifestyle and fashion website ‘GOOP’ and has just brought out her own cookbook. She can sing as well as anybody but does it in a sexy, skintight jumpsuit teetering in high heels on top of a piano (at the Grammy’s). Oh and did we mention she is apparently happily married to a rock star with 2 healthy children? She is a fitness fanatic with incredible self discipline with a body to prove it. Ewwww. She has incredible style, looks fabulous in clothes and always gets it right. In the latest issue of GOOP she looks amazing modeling her summer wardrobe (all available from NET-A-PORTER). Please don’t hate her because she is beautiful. And perfect.

So is there anything this girl can’t do? Apparently not. Now we find out she is a huge fan of 90s hip hop as we discovered when she rapped on the Graham Norton show. You can see the hilarious video of Gwyneth performing N.W.A.’s “Gangsta Gangsta” below…

It looks like singing and dancing is the new black. Because we also now have our favourite outrageous and totally mad cap fashion editor Anna Dello Russo (See Review blog) singing and dancing in a video with an Italian DJ Radio Deejay. In the video titled “Fashion Shower” she pronounces in her cheeky husky Italian accent: “Fashion is always uncomfortable: when you get comfortable you never get the look.” I am sure Gwyneth would agree. Love it!
Watch Anna as she wiggles and sings – pretty uncomfortably – below…

The Met Costume Institute Gala

May 13th, 2011 | Posted in Blog

It’s the Oscars of fashion! The annual Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Gala this year paid tribute to the late British designer Alexander McQueen. So who got it right on the red carpet and who should have stayed at home?

Over the top and loving it…

Naomi Campbell wearing Alexander McQueen: She is a supermodel. She makes sure she never looks like anyone else. (or she will hit them).

Iman wearing Stella McCartney: 55 and faaabulous. She rocks in a gold glitter jumpsuit (but did she nick it from David Bowie?).

Daphne Guinness wearing Alexander McQueen: A walking piece of art and a little mad as only an aristocratic eccentric can be. She might just be hiding some of The Met’s antiquities under there.

Miranda Kerr wearing Marchesa: Amazing legs and a gorgeous face means she can carry off a frothy frou frou TuTu.

Simply Chic…

Sarah Jessica Parker wearing Alexander McQueen: Straight up glamour. So simple. She nails it. Aleksandr Petrovsky: eat your heart out.

Gywneth Paltrow wearing Stella McCartney: She always gets it right: Modern and sexy without revealing anything. Please don’t hate her because she is perfect.

Jenna Lyons wearing J.Crew: Love this! The Creative Director of J Crew knows how to throw a modern look together. (She gives day to evening a totally new meaning).

Stella Tennant wearing Chanel: A vision in soft pretty pink. The secret to her style? Insouciant chic (Memo to J.LO: Never look like you’re trying too hard).

What were they thinking?

Kristen Dunst
wearing Chanel: I think Karl found this in the back of the Chanel cupboard and threw it at her. Then she got dressed in the car.

Amy Adams wearing L’Wren Scott: If she wore Kristen’s dress with that plaited hair she could have auditioned for the Sound Of Music. Oh dear.

Freida Pinto wearing Chanel Haute Couture: Maybe she thought Black Tie literally meant…

Vanessa Traina wearing Louis Vuitton: Classic fashion victim. She saw it on the runway. She wanted it. She forgot to look in the mirror. Eeek.
