Beyonce 4 Fashion

We love Beyoncé: An amazing performer she is also fearless in fashion. Talk about fierce! She has huge creative control over her image and her incredible wardrobe. She told W magazine: “When I sing a song I definitely have the image for the video in my mind. I kind of hear the choreography that will be in the video, and I can see how I’ll look, even before anyone—the record company, the director—has heard the song.”

Now for her next album simply called “4”  she has ditched major fashion designers such as Prada, Givenchy and Versace and chosen relatively unknowns. Mainly French they are labels that most fashionista have never heard of.

According to the New York Times,  the new album features “a fold-out cover that looks more like a glossy fashion magazine spread than a record sleeve.” Beyoncé’s Creative Director, Jenke-Ahmed Tailly says, “The album is a musical gumbo of everything Beyoncé likes. Each song really has a different personality so we decided to do the cover like an editorial for a magazine, with each song having its own style pointed her in the direction of these designers”.

On the cover she is wearing a fox-fur stole by the French designer Alexandre Vauthier embellished with amazing Swarovski crystals (it was also his gold mini dress she wore onstage at Glastonbury Festival last month). The other avant garde designers include French designer Maxime Simoens and Lleah Rae. The only major designer piece apparently is a vintage Azzedine Alaïa jacket which Beyoncé wears with outrageous diamante stomp-a-licious heels by little known Dutch designer Jan Taminiau. OMG! Try walking in those!

Ahmed Tailly says, “It was important to Beyoncé that the choice of clothing not be about the brand but about the quality of the work.”

Unknown designers? Not for long. These will be the fashion names on everyone’s lips.

Kate Moss Gets Married!

July 7th, 2011 | Posted in Blog

It’s all anyone in fashion can talk about: Kate Moss’ wedding. Nicknamed “Moss -stock” after Woodstock, there has been days of celebration with a festival of pop stars, models and fashion’s biggest names all flocking to her estate in the English countryside.

If you have been living under a Balenciaga platform wedge let me fill you in on the details: Kate Moss married The Kills musician Jamie Hince last Friday in a delightful little village church in the Cotswold’s. She wore a divine dress designed by John Galliano who was also apparently at the wedding. A loyal long time friend, Kate has always been Galliano’s muse. He designed her 21st birthday dress, her 30th birthday dress, and Galliano’s show was the first she ever walked for.

Her gorgeous wedding dress was a long sheath with a smattering of sequins and delicate sheer paneling. “She was that ethereal waif; delicate and mischievous, on a perfect midsummer eve,” said Vogue UK Features Director, Harriet Quick.

“It was so very her and it could not be more opposite to the royal wedding. It was a superb dress and pure Galliano – bias-cut, nostalgic and wonderful – a tribute to him. Moss returns to that waif we all fell in love with.” It was inspired by Zelda Fitzgerald, one of Kate’s idols, to go with her engagement ring which Jamie Hince had copied from sketches of Zelda’s original ring. She wore a long veil to match the dress and her hair was parted in the middle within loose waves styled by Sam McKnight. Her minimal make-up was simple and natural by Charlotte Tilbury. Her shoes were by Manolo Blahnik with blue lining — as in “something blue”. Lovely!

The sixteen young bridesmaids (yes, sixteen!) wore adorable Stella McCartney dresses in oyster-colored washed silk chiffon with flowers in their hair. UK Vogue reports that Stella McCartney also “designed a series of outfits for the great Moss wedding weekend, including the model’s first-dance dress, her party dress and the going-away outfit, a three-piece suit with a single-breasted, grosgrain peak lapel jacket and a wide-leg trouser. Cool!

In true supermodel style, the newlyweds left for their honeymoon in a glamorous helicopter. Apparently a bottle of Champagne was delivered to each of the local residents of the tiny village, accompanied by a note which read: “Thank you for all your patience and understanding! Lots of love, Jamie and Kate.” Bless.

Oh, yes and the groom wore a suit by Yves Saint Laurent. And sunglasses. Then lit a cigarette. A true rock star even on his wedding day.
