Behind the Scenes for Spring

August 26th, 2011 | Posted in Blog

Pssst. Want to know a secret? I’ve just had a behind-the-scenes sneak peek of the new Review fashion shoot for spring. Oh la la! Talk about gorgeous clothes! Talk about pretty pieces!

The shoot was over two days. The first day of the shoot the Review team – we’re talking model, photographer, hair and makeup artists, stylist and a trillion other important people – zoomed out on location arriving at the most amazing mansion outside of Sydney. One of the concepts (we call it divine inspiration) behind the shoot was “My Fair Lady” so it was all about dramatic black and white, sophisticated spots and the loveliest of lace. Pop on a red hat and it’s perfect for Derby Day, don’t you think?

The other theme was coined “Confetti Bloom”. You see it was all about flowers! There was even a team on hand that changed the very wintery location to spring just by bringing in over 30 varieties of flowers (real and fake). Magic. Our lovely model Bridget, who incidentally is applying to Juilliard School in New York, threw herself tirelessly into playing the part. She looked every bit the lady, swanning around the beautiful house and manicured garden posing in all the chic dresses and the highest of heels (Thank you Peeptoe and Zu). LOVE!

The second day we all headed to the studio. The theme was “Once Upon a Time For September”. After hair and makeup Bridget got straight into it, striking a pose in Review dress after gorgeous Review dress all the while getting sprinkled with flowers and showered in all sorts of rose petals (oh and a hair dryer.).

Pretty dresses! Gorgeous flowers! Divine Shoes! What more does a girl want? Bring on spring!

Yours in fashion anticipation,

Madonna’s Movie W.E.

August 4th, 2011 | Posted in Blog

Did you know “Her Madgesty” Madonna is directing another movie? It’s called W.E. Set in the 1930’s it follows King Edward VIII’s affair and marriage to the American glamour puss, Wallis Simpson. It was King Edward who had to give up the throne so he could marry Wallis (She was twice divorced which was a big NoNo at the time). You may remember his character in the movie The King’s Speech. He was the dashing, playboy King and his abdication was the reason the poor, old stuttering Prince became King.

According to Grazia UK, the film has two intertwining romances and stars our very own Abbie Cornish as “a woman in 1998 infatuated with King Edward VIII (played by James D’Arcy) and Wallis Simpson (played by Andrea Riseborough)”.

If the chic black and white stills of the movie are anything to go by, it looks like it will be worth seeing the movie alone just to drool over these clothes. Apparently Madonna’s long time stylist Arianne Phillips is the costume designer. She was nominated for an Oscar for her costumes in Walk the Line (Reese Witherspoon wore Prada). She also designed the costumes in Tom Ford’s film, A Single Man. She must be good: Imagine working with the exacting Tom Ford! Both movies have the most beautiful clothes that capture the period with a big dollop of glamour and style with a capital S.

Now the clothes in W.E. look fabulous. I love the prim dresses with the Peter Pan collars and the chic hats. I want those fabulous round sunglasses and his jaunty stripe Breton top. It’s all in keeping with fashion’s latest love affair over anything retro, grown up and glamorous. Yes, I am pleased to announce it’s time for a new season of gorgeous lady like style. How can you get this look? Head to Review, of course, for the prettiest dresses fit for (seducing) a King.

Yours royally fashionable,
