Adelaide store manager
Jessica began working at Review in 2007.

How did your career at Review begin?
My initial interview was for a part-time position. Five minutes after the interview, I received a call back offering me a position as manager of Review’s store within Myer Adelaide. I deferred my law degree – I was so excited! About four months later, Review opened up its own store in Rundle Mall, so I moved across to manage the new store.

Why did you choose to work at Review?
When I started, Review was a new brand to Adelaide. But I researched the brand, and I could tell that the product was something I'd like to wear and also help others to choose from.

What makes Review different?
So much goes into the design of garments. The feminine style is unique from most of what is widely available. As a company, Review really cares about its employees. Lots of effort is made to recruit the right people, so the girls we get to work with are lovely, making the work environment happy, safe and healthy.

What does a typical day involve?
I arrive at the store fairly early, to make sure it's presentable before we open. I also make sure that I'm looking presentable... so I ensure my hair, make-up and outfit is just right before the doors open at 9am! Throughout the day, I help customers and encourage them to try on items that will suit them. About once a week, we re-merchandise the store, and change the window displays. The highlight for us is the delivery of new stock twice a week – it's always exciting to see what's coming in.

What are your main responsibilities?
Primarily making sure the staff are happy and performing as they should be. I also like to be really involved on floor – serving customers and setting a good example for the team.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
Working with lovely people, and making customers really happy. Our clothes fit well and are unique, so customers leave happy with their purchases.

What staff benefits are offered?
Staff receive a clothing discount to make sure they're always looking their best, and are also rewarded with vouchers when the store achieves sales or mystery shop targets.

Do you have input into the ranges Review designs?
Absolutely – I really think the design team listens to us a lot. As a store we fill out weekly product feedback sheets, communicating what’s popular, what customers have said about particular items, suggestions for what pieces we'd like to see in different colours and fabrics, and what we've had a lot of requests for that we don't have in stock.

Who is your style icon and why?
Cate Blanchett. She always chooses something a bit different, yet still looks classic, elegant and feminine. She knows what suits her, which is always important!
