Before I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in 2017 I was completely unaware of just how lethal it is

What makes Frocktober special to you?

Frocktober is an important promotion for me personally because I am currently living with Ovarian Cancer so anything that can raise awareness and bring focus is to this disease is fantastic. Before I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in 2017 I was completely unaware of just how lethal it is. I did not realise there was no early detection tests available and that there are virtually no symptoms. It came as a complete shock to me to discover that I had an advanced stage cancer when I was a healthy 49 year old woman. Since being diagnosed the cancer has returned twice and I have had to undergo extreme surgery and chemotherapy programs. I am currently having 3 weekly blood tests to monitor what is an aggressive and incurable cancer. Frocktober gives women a wonderful opportunity to get dressed up, catch up with some friends and also raise funds for research for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.

How long have you been involved with Frocktober?

I have been involved with Frocktober since 2017. As an Ambassador for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation I am passionate about sharing my story and making other women aware of this insidious disease. I have attended many Frocktober events and really enjoy seeing everyone in their frocks. Of course I love to dress up too and getting together with some girlfriends is always fun so this works on all levels!

Which Review dress will you be “frocking” this October?

This is a difficult question! I do love florals, but then polka dots are always a favourite too. The Review dresses I love this Frocktober are the Dara Daisy Dress (would look great with some white trainers for an afternoon tea) and the Pamela Dress (add some black pointy kitten heel shoes and its fabulous!)
