DERBY DAY DRESS CODE

Derby Day is all about showcasing timeless, elegant fashions on the field. Its monochrome-only dress code is very strict, so don’t even think about sneaking in any colourful accessories. Keep it clean with either all-white or black, otherwise, mix and match to create a fun take on the rules through stripes or polka dots. Complement it with a matching hat and bag and you’re ready to go.

MELBOURNE CUP DRESS CODE

Being the most important day on the Spring Carnival calendar, it’s time to go big and bold for the Melbourne Cup. Don’t be shy, flaunt bright colour blocks with contrasting accessories. If you prefer a more subtle approach, a lace dress is also a timeless classic. A fascinator is a must for this day, so select one that adds intrigue and enhances your chosen look.

OAKS DAY DRESS CODE

Our favourite day of the carnival, Oaks Day is for us ladies. Think pastel tones, florals and lace that shows off your feminine silhouette. Feel free to experiment with delicate fabrics such as satin and silk to create a stylish ensemble. Finish off the outfit with a simple hair accessory such as a headband. This day is about celebrating femininity while showing off our unique individual personalities.

STAKES DAY DRESS CODE

Traditionally known as “family day”, Stakes Day has the least strict dress code on the calendar. The whole day has a very relaxed feel to it, which has trickled down into the dress code. Consider fun, simple prints on a flowing number of your choice. Otherwise, a pantsuit is also a comfortable yet classy approach to the day.

SPRING RACING CARNIVAL DRESS CODE TIPS

The Carnival is a classy event, so leave anything you would wear to a nightclub at home.

Be mindful of pumps and stilettos with a thin heel, as they love to sink into the soft grass.

When it comes to headwear, most racecourses expect ladies to wear a headpiece, whether that be a fascinator, hat or headband with their outfit.

While the races are generally about bold fashion choices, there is nothing wrong with going for the ‘less is more’ approach too.
