Binge-Worthy Netflix Series to Take You through the Winter-Time
It’s hard to believe we’ve reached winter time already! With the cold evenings and current climate of spending more time at home, the words we are constantly hearing on everyone’s lips are: what should I watch next on Netflix!? We’ve rained in the help from best friends Christina and Anne, who share their hand-picked list of must watch series and movies. From drama, documentaries, comedy and romance, there is a suggestion here for everyone! Throw on your favourite Review knitwear and cosy up with popcorn at home to enjoy these binge-worthy Netflix shows.
"Spending time at home, has meant more time to "Netflix and chill" while wearing the cosy Set On You Rib Jumper, especially during the autumn winter season. Anne and I like to set up a regular Netflix date each week, so that we can catch up while watching our favourite TV shows and movies together."
"A little fun fact about Netflix is that it started out as a DVD subscription service in 1997. When I was attending university in upstate New York around 2008, I remember my flatmate at the time receiving her 3 DVDs for the week in a little white envelope in the mail. She would be excited to enjoy her 3 new movies for the week, especially during the snowy winters when she would rug up indoors with a hot cocoa. Fast-forward a decade or so later, Netflix has evolved into a widely used subscription-based streaming service.
My favourite part about the Netflix story is that while it was still a DVD by mail business, the founder of Netflix approached Blockbusters, the DVD rental brick and mortar stores, in an attempt to sell Netflix to them. However, this proposal did not receive a good response. In fact, Blockbusters laughed at them and thought DVD by mail was not something to be taken seriously. Instead of giving up, Netflix decided it would not be defeated and it would continue to evolve. Today, Netflix has turned into a production company and leading streaming service. Blockbuster and many other DVD rental stores are now obsolete.
I love this story because there are valuable lessons to take from it, which include not being afraid of having unique ideas, to think outside the box, push through obstacles and push backs, and always believe in yourself!
If Blockbuster had bought Netflix, Netflix may have never evolved into the incredible streaming service it is today that most people enjoy.
More recently, Netflix has added the new Netflix Party feature, which is a fun way to watch Netflix with friends online. Christina and I use the group chat feature to discuss while watching a movie or show together.
