In particular, floral dresses are always a winner in our eyes, while print and pattern dresses provide subtle class to your look.

Winery Dress Code

Believe it or not, most wineries don’t have a set dress code and instead ask you to “dress respectable”. While the latter is never an issue for us, deciding how formal or casual to go with your outfit is the tricky part.

As a rule of thumb, whenever you are heading to a winery for any event that isn’t a wedding, then sticking to a smart casual dress code should be your imperative. This means dressing up casual pieces or dressing down formal clothing to fit the occasion.

Say Yes to The Dress

If you ever needed another opportunity to wear a bright playful dress, a winery is a perfect time to bring one out. Between the stunning vineyard views and delicious wine, bold colours and patterns play on the fun atmosphere at a winery.

In particular, floral dresses are always a winner in our eyes, while print and pattern dresses provide subtle class to your look. Choice of colour will come down to your taste but don’t be shy to showcase a bold number for this occasion. That being said, soft pastels and shades of white will continue to be a timeless choice as well.

For length and material, check the weather first. If it’s warm, a thin maxi dress or anything above the knee is perfectly acceptable, while when it’s cool, you will want to stick with something longer and slightly thicker.

If you want to give your dresses a rest, a jumpsuit or playsuit is another great option.

Dive into Smart Separates

Looking to mix things up for your winery outfit? Look no further! Smart separates are the perfect way to colour block and mix patterns to your hearts content. Since you’re off to a winery, we suggest a skirt that flows with a top of your choice.

Either a single-colour top with a bright and cheery skirt or vice versa, will bring out the colour and patterns in your look. Pants are another versatile option, in particular, breezy wide-leg styles complement a winery’s cruisy atmosphere.

Let’s Layer it Up

While this is dependent on the weather of the day, it’s always a good idea to bring an extra layer along, just in case the tastings go well into the night. A cardigan or denim jacket is perfect for all occasions, while a bolero will add a touch of class to your impeccable winery.

Winery Outfit Tips

While almost anything goes at a winery, there are some pieces that should stay in the closet, at least for this occasion:

  • Even though high heels are a staple in our wardrobe, thin heels love to get stuck in the ground, making them less than ideal for outdoor excursions to wineries. Instead, thicker heels and wedges should be your go-to footwear.

  • Since we are visiting the winery rather than working on it, jeans should be left for the cooler months only. Stick to dresses and smart separates for the prime warm weather winery season.

  • With all those wine tastings throughout the day, don’t forget to drink wateryou’ll thank yourself the next morning!
