Preparation: 20 min
Cook Time: 10 min
Ready In: 30 min
150g Chocolate, chopped
500g Fresh Strawberries
Toppings of your choice
The best part about this recipe is you don’t need to lock away a lot of time or have fancy cooking skills to nail your chocolate dipped strawberries recipe. This makes a great rainy day project or can easily be completed at the end of a working day if you are short on time. Your beautiful creations will stay fresh for 2-3 days if kept in the fridge, as long as you can resist eating them before the event.
To get started, you’ll need to source your ingredients. The best way to amaze your guest’s taste buds is to opt for fine chocolate and visit the farmers market for some super ripe strawberries. Choosing the best quality ingredients available is going to have a big impact on the end taste and who doesn’t want that? Consider if you want white, milk or dark chocolate, (or perhaps even all three) and any extra decorations!
Wash and dry the strawberries
It's important to make sure your strawberries have completely dried before dipping, or else the chocolate won't stick (and we don't want that!).
Melt the chocolate
Melt the chocolate slowly over the stovetop until all bumps are completely melted. This is the safest option to avoid burning the chocolate.
Prepare your workspace
Prepare a neat and tidy workspace with all your toppings set up and ready to go. Line a tray with baking paper to place the freshly dipped strawberries on.
Dip the strawberries
Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip one at a time, turning to coat. The occasional finger dipping is allowed, we won’t tell if you don’t ;)
Now the fun part, DECORATING!
Let your creative side shine! Sprinkles, cookie crumbs, toasted coconut or crushed nuts make delicious dipping options (and this is just to name a few!). Prepare separate bowls for each topping and dip the strawberry into the topping while they’re still wet.
Drizzling contrasting chocolate on top is another easy but effective option. A piping bag or small zip lock bag with the corner snipped will do the trick. The key here is to work in regular fast sweeping motions over the tray of set strawberries for an evenly distributed effect.
Wondering how you can incorporate pink? We thought you might be. Add a drop of red food colouring to your white melted chocolate and mix and you are ready to create the prettiest little bites you’ve ever seen.
Leave to set
Carefully place the decorated strawberries in the fridge for 15-20 minutes. Display them on a beautiful serving tray & they are ready to eat!
