What to Wear for Online Meetings?

What to Wear for Online Meetings?

While it is tempting to grab an over sized t-shirt, your comfiest tracksuit pants and fluffy slippers, how you dress for your day will actually help motivate you for work. Consider what you would normally wear to work and try and replicate that as best as possible for your video meetings.

Are you known for your bright floral dresses? Do you prefer an elegant ponte skirt with a printed blouse? Bring your normal dress style to your home office to keep you mentally in the work zone. This will also make it easy to differentiate your home life with work life.

Blending professionalism with comfort, it's hard to go wrong with a pair of classic dark dress pants and a floral blouse. Otherwise, another fabulous favourite is a work dress complemented by one of our signature cardigans.

Regardless if you're meeting with clients or just chatting with your work colleagues, we always want to look our best for the meeting. Consider this an opportunity to try new styles from the comfort of your own home. That way when it comes to returning to the office, you will have a wide range of stunning new outfits to flaunt.

How to Prepare Your Home Office

How to Prepare Your Home Office

Ideally, when working from hone, it's best to set up a home office area. While it may seem like the perfect opportunity to work from the bed or the couch, it's better to set up a dedicated space on your dining table or even better, in a quiet study..

Not only will you be more productive, but it is far more professional look when on a video conference compared to sitting on the sofa. If you're setting up your home office for the first time, you'll need a comfortable office chair and spacious desk to house your work space.

Remember Video Conference Etiquette

Remember Video Conference Etiquette

With these simple tips, you'll be the queen of video conferences in no time!

Consider your video background:

Before your first video call, test your camera to see how your background looks. Piles of dirty laundry or glare from a window is not a professional look. Instead, try and keep your background simple and neutral, such as a wall or bookcase.

Keep lighting behind the camera:

For the most flattering lighting on your face, try and keep the main light source behind the camera. Fluorescent lights and bright LED's on the ceiling will cast dark shadows over you while you're on camera. A soft desk lamp is great for lighting.

Camera stays at eye-level:

Giving your video conference attendees a prime view up your chin can be an unpleasant experience for everyone. Rather than having your webcam sitting on your lap and angled up, place your computer on a stand or book to bring your webcam to eye-level.

Speak clearly:

Since everyone has different home internet and office set-ups, it's important to speak clearly in a video conference. Mumbling into the microphone isn't going to get your point across.

Accept things won't be perfect:

Whether the postman arrives mid-meeting or your internet connection suddenly becomes unstable, it's important to relax and go with the flow. Fix things as quickly as possible but don't stress, everyone else who has ever worked from home will understand.
